How to Play Glifio
Read the emojis, type the hidden word, and learn when a hint is worth its price.

Read the emojis
Each puzzle shows two to five emojis. Some are literal (🐫 = camel), some are sounds or parts of a word, and some point to a famous story, place or person.

Check the topic line
Under the emojis you see a short topic and the sub-category, such as “Brick building kingdom · Toys”. Use them to narrow down the answer.

Type the answer
The boxes show how many letters the answer has. Type with the in-game keyboard; correct letters turn blue and the whole word turns green once solved.

Use help wisely
Stuck? Open the text hint (the first one in each game is free), reveal a single letter for 10 points, or skip and come back to the question later.

Play solo, daily or with friends
Train in Solo mode, take the Daily Challenge once a day, or host a public or private room for 2–8 players with a 6-character code.

Level up and collect
Games earn XP, solo games earn coins, and correct answers raise your Category Mastery. Spend coins on frames, keyboard themes and victory animations.

Points decide solo results and the multiplayer podium. Here is what every action is worth.

Game modes & difficulty
Casual
No clock. Take your time on every puzzle, ideal for learning and relaxed play.
Timed
One shared clock for the whole game: 32, 35 or 40 seconds per question on easy, medium or hard. Pays extra XP.
Easy, Medium, Hard
Harder puzzles use rarer words and pay more coins. On hard, part of the emoji clue stays hidden until you reveal it.
Multiplayer
Public or private rooms for 2–8 players with 5, 8 or 12 questions. Same puzzles, same rules, live scoreboard.
The Daily Challenge
A fresh community puzzle unlocks every day at midnight, your local time. Everyone gets the same emojis, so you can compare scores and share a spoiler-free result card with friends.
Streak Freeze: Missed a day? A Streak Freeze (70 coins, hold up to 3) is used automatically and keeps your streak alive.
6-Category Mastery
Your skill is tracked separately in every category. Correct answers earn mastery points (more on hard mode), moving you from Novice to Curious, Knowledgeable, Expert and finally Master.
Category Leaderboards: Rankings come only from correct answers. Hints and letter reveals cost points, and no purchase can buy a better score or rank.
Tips from experienced players
- Read the emojis left to right: they often follow the order of the answer’s parts.
- Look at the letter count first; it rules out most wrong ideas.
- Save your free text hint for the hardest puzzle of the game.
- Reveal a letter in the middle of the word: it usually helps more than the first letter.
- Skip freely. Skipped puzzles come back, and a fresh look often solves them.
